Why the World Needs RetroVue™

It’s 9:17pm. You’ve been channel-surfing, and have finally found a television program you’d like to watch. But, you’ve missed the first seventeen minutes of the show. What if, with the click of a button, you could jump back to the start of that program, or any airing program in the digital TV lineup? No complex menus to navigate, no settings to configure—just you, your TV, and your remote control.

You can, with GoBackTV’s RetroVue System. You can also record programs centrally (network PVR), timeshift live TV, order VoD movies, and create playlists and custom channel lineups.

These are just some of the service capabilities that GoBackTV’s RetroVue System enables. The RetroVue services work by assigning each viewer his own, personal television channel, which means that he gets to watch what he wants, not what everyone else is watching. Besides jumping back to the start of the program, the viewer can jump backward, pause, or return to the normal video broadcast.

RetroVue also promotes operational simplicity on a number of fronts.

  • Set-top box simplicity. Advanced features are supported from the network, so operators can standardize on a single basic two-way set-top box.
  • Instantaneous service level upgrades. Subscriber features are enabled, disabled, or upgraded centrally, without requiring a truck roll or CPE swap-out.
  • Success-based scaling. RetroVue hardware components are stackable 1RU and 2RU chassis, connected by simple Gigabit Ethernet. Add capacity only when and where you need it.
  • Lightweight HTML-based middleware. Default subscriber access to RetroVue functionality is done through a Javascript/PHP-based interface, which is easy to maintain and update. Changes can even be done in-house using standard design tools. Third-party middleware is also supported.
