GigaQAM® GigaQAM enables narrowcast, broadcast, and switched broadcast transmission in a single compact package. It provides 24 dual-bonded QAM-RF outputs in a 1RU package with dual Gigabit Ethernet input ports. The GigaQAM 3000 also supports the delivery of IPTV to DOCSIS® 1.1 and 2.0 cable modems via CMTS-bypass technology. Functionality includes an extremely versatile software-based multiplexer, and optional conditional access encryption. Single Program Transport Stream (SPTS) input streams can be VBR or CBR, with rates up to 19.2Mbps, and can be dynamically incorporated into one or more outgoing MPTSs. The multiplexer can also pass through entire MPTSs along with rate corrections, or drop/add programs to existing MPTSs. In addition to advanced MPEG multiplexer capabilities, the GigaQAM is also available with an optional integrated content encryption engine. This engine is capable of scrambling up to one gigabit per second, which allows the GigaQAM to deliver streams with real-time encryption. Different keys per stream are supported, which offers superior content protection for high value content, such as first run movies. The encryption engine supports the DVB-CSA scrambling algorithm, and can be updated in software to support additional algorithms such as the Advanced Encryption Standard, AES. The GigaQAM gives cable MSOs the most flexible and future-proof way to deploy all-digital video services -- from managing the transition from analog to digital broadcast to offering new operational or revenue producing services such as switched broadcast, time shifting, network PVR (nPVR), Video-on-Demand (VoD), and IPTV.
