Paul Baran - Technical Advisor and Chairman of the Board

Mr. Baran has started seven companies, five of which went public, and three of which reached valuations in excess of USD$1 Billion. He is the creator of the RetroVue concept, and funded the initial development. He continues in a part-time advisory role. Mr. Baran received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University, an MS in Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, and two honorary doctorate degrees.

Mr. Baran is best known as the inventor of packet switching. He has been the recipient of many awards, including the IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal, the Marconi Fellowship Prize, and the Franklin Institute Bower Award for Science. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineers, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Marconi International Fellow, and a Life Fellow of the IEEE.

Susan Nycum

An internationally acknowledged expert in intellectual property law, Susan Nycum is a Partner Emerita at Baker & McKenzie. Ms. Nycum has received numerous citations and honors including a fellowship for her contributions to improving the bilateral understanding between the technical community and the legal community by the Association for Computing Machinery, an international scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the arts, sciences, and applications of information technology.

Ms. Nycum is the author of Software Proprietary Rights: A Legal Guide (Reston, 1985) among many volumes to her credit. She has shaped private and governmental policy regarding the protection of intellectual property and is an arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association and other providers of dispute resolution services.

Dan Pike

Mr. Pike is Chief Technology Officer of GCI Cable and Entertainment. Entering the cable industry in 1973, Mr. Pike joined Communication Properties, Inc. in 1977 and Prime Cable in 1982 where he progressed through numerous engineering management positions to become Senior Vice President of Science and Technology for Prime Cable and its entities until its dissolution in 2000, then joining Classic Cable as CTO, and GCI in 2003.

He has served on the Board of Directors of CableLabs since its inception, received the NCTA Vanguard Award for Science and Technology in 1991, the Texas Telecommunications 2000 Johnny Mankin Award, was elected to the SCTE Hall of Fame, and currently serves as director or advisor to other technology-related organizations. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a Senior Member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and frequently speaks and publishes on broadband and telecommunications issues.

Mr. Pike earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Oklahoma State University.

David Baran

Mr. Baran is President and CEO of GoBackTV. Prior to founding GoBackTV, he served in several capacities at Com21, most recently as Vice President of DOCSIS Products, where he led development of the CMTS now marketed by ARRIS as the Cadant C3. Other relevant experience includes Director of Information Technology for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Management Consultant with Booz, Allen and Hamilton. He holds two patents in the areas of image processing and distributed systems communications. Mr. Baran holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Quantitative Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
